Preparing for Fall Weather at Punta Piedra
With El Niño strengthening as we move into fall and winter, now is a good time to prepare for periods of heavier rain, wind and coastal weather before they arrive.
Punta Piedra’s maintenance team is already working through seasonal preparations. Vacant lots are being cleaned, and crews will begin checking and clearing street drainage areas in the coming weeks. In Phase 2, palm trees have also been trimmed in preparation for stronger winds, with that work funded through private donations.
Homeowners can help by checking roofs, windows and doors for potential leaks, clearing drainage around their properties and securing loose outdoor items.
Sandbags Available Through the Office
For owners who want to prepare in advance, empty sandbags are available through the Punta Piedra administrative office for 40 pesos or $2 USD each, including the tie. Payment is cash only. The Association is providing the bags at cost and does not make a profit from their sale.

Homeowners are responsible for filling their own bags. The office can provide directions to the designated sand location.
For changing weather conditions and official emergency information, residents are encouraged to follow Protección Civil Baja California, including its Facebook page, throughout the rainy season.
A little preparation before a storm is considerably easier than dealing with water after it arrives.
